reset 4068 to factory default?
reset 4068 to factory default?
I bought some 4068 IP phones from eBay , and one of them has a setup password on it
I need to change the setup to be able to use the phone on my network.
Can I reset to factory config. somehow, without every knowing the existing password?

Please try this procedure to reset the IP Phone Password and Connect it to some Other TFTP IP address(Another OXE) to register.
In industrial mode, the set will only work in a specific sub network, and
default IP address
- IpTouch IP address: 192.168.1.1
- tftp address: 192.168.1.6
You don't have to configure anything on the set, the address above are the
default "industrial" addresses
1)So, on your side you have at first to configure your PC with address "
192.168.1.6"
2)Then start your IpTouch in industrial mode:
- IP Touch starts in industrial mode thanks to key (i 1 2 3)
+ Disconnect power of the set
+ push key i
+ reconnect power (hold always key "i" pressed)
+ push at the same time "1" "2" "3" (and "i" of course)
+ when the leds go on, you can release the key
+ now, the set is in "industrial mode"
3)Use a crossed cable to connect your Set to the PC, or a HUB
4)Now you make a telnet on the set
5) Erase Thales Security
thalsec reset
6) Restart the set
The above procedure should work if it does not use following method.
First we need to telnet to ip touch phone. To do this use ippstat command and select option 15 and enter the directory number of ipphone and give timout time. Then you will see the following prompt.
NoePhone > config -h
config -h
ontinuation of previous activity.
config
set <ipaddr> <subnet> <router>

local_tftp_port {ls|<port>}
survi
mem
save <n> | restore <n> | r<n> (n in 1..4)

For example:
config dhcp d to enable the DHCP mode or
config dhcp s and
config set 1.2.3.4 255.255.255.0 1.2.3.1 and
config tftp addr 1.2.3.2 to set static IP parameters
And then reboot the phone.
Now it should connect to the OXE and get the new password.

Hello,
I tested it in my lab and it work.
I gave my PC the adrress 192.168.1.6 and conncet the phone to my PC ( crossover cable )
Then I pushed the i key ( next to the navigator keys not the on on the keyboard )
After this I plug the power
then I pressed 1 2 and 3 and hold i pressed
when the leds goes on i released the keys.
Now the phone starts. You see that the phone is in industrial mode when you get the message standlon->restet and then connected in the display of the set.
I hope this will help you.
Greetings Jasic

Re: reset 4068 to factory default?
Hi to all,
I have the same problem but on a 4008 set.
I followed the procedure but "thalsec reset" is not being recognized as a command so I moved on to the next method.
I gave all the ip parameters via a telnet session to 192.168.1.1. and I can see the ip parameters and tftp address in config menu there.
What should I do next? I can see flash parameters and current parameters. I connected the phone to the OXE - display showed getting new password and then registration refused.
Now If I connect again the phone is stuck in "2/5 network connection".
Thanks

Default safemod ip address: 192.168.1.1 example your ip address 192.168.1.6
physical connection: You need cross cable, ip telephone lan port
safemood operation: IP Touch power off. u must hold always key ( 1 2 3 i )
pc connectionopen operation: telnet 192.168.1.1
u will see NeoPhone>
config: your ip telephone config. file
config set: new config ip address subnetmask router
Example
config set 192.168.0.27 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.5 - ip telephone ip address - subnetmask - gateway

The CPU is provided by the FTP settings. No need to fill it
