Upgrade from old firmware and revert if upgrade fail

Post by limlayhin »

Hi,

I am going to perform upgrade from very old version of firmware to latest one, detail as below:
Current Version New Version
AOS: 6.3.3.277.R01 6.4.5.608.R02
Uboot: 6.3.3.276.R01 6.4.3.565.R01

My vendor tell me no problem to proceed.

Let say if the upgrade fail, what do I do to revert to existing firmware?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks .....

You can't /should not downgrade uboot/miniboot/fpga.
It is (according to some Alcatel guru) backwards compatible.

What i would do:
- would plan a resonable downtime (better safe than sorry) - you will need at least one reboot
- if possible be connected to console (to see output/error)
- upload new firmware to working
- upgrade uboot/miniboot
- "reload working no rollback"

test.

if everything is fine "write memory flash-synchro"

if not do a "reload" (it will reload from certified -> old firmware) do a "copy certified working" afterwards.. you now have newer miniboot, but that should not be a problem, but your old software.

Good luck!
